Fusion Adventure Race

Fusion VI

On the 9th of June 2012, Fusion VI began at the Manzanilla Beach Facility where 1 person from each team was required to run 200 meters to collect a concrete paver and return to their team; the concrete paver was now required to be with the team for the remainder of the leg. On return to the team, all team members were now required to complete a 17km run with all team members.

The run started with a relatively flat 5km road run which entered the unique forests of Manzanilla ascending 4km to the lighthouse where teams were required to answer questions after which they descended on the other side of the mountain for 3km and back onto the roadway for another 5km road run to the Manzanilla Beach Facility. The time to complete this leg ranged from 1 hour 52 minutes 25 seconds to 4 hours 24 minutes 18 seconds.

Teams then shuttled their way across to the scenic and quiet village of Matura. Teams were provided with life vests as they were now required to make their way through the Matura river for a very memorable and enjoyable course.

The 14km course started with a 2km road run followed by a forest trail run for 3km. At this point teams were required to answer questions posed on the course before descending what was dubbed as ‘soapy hill’ and entering the majestic Matura river where teams enjoyed the pools that awaited inclusive of the infamous Mermaid Pool. At the end of the river course, teams faced a small challenge of climbing back to land where there teamwork had to be tested. The fastest time to complete this leg with penalties was 2 hours 25 minutes and 54 seconds; the slowest time was 5 hours 18 minutes and 9 seconds.

Fusion VI ended with a 5km run from the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain to the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. At around 5:30pm, teams (using 3 persons per team), were required to run from TGIF in a clockwise direction around the Queens Park Savannah and back to TGIF then proceed into the Cruise Shipping area at the Port Authority with their fourth team member. This leg of the event ranged from 20 minutes 3 seconds to 43 minutes 23 seconds.
